Bits and Pieces

Thought i'd publish some pictures from practice or just smaller events that I have lying around :)

Below: Dolphins and Spider girl

Wolf face that was very popular with boys over the summer.

Monster Face (blogger is playing up, and won't import it the right way up..)

Pikachu face!

Farmer Phils & National Trust

Summer got a bit hectic so I fell behind on uploading pictures, so heres the ones that I took over the holidays!

I did some work with the National trust at Dudmaston hall, which was great but it rained quite a lot. I didn't have permission to take photos of the painting there, which was a shame but I got a few pictu
res of the surroundings and set up.

Playing about with some Alice and Wonderland hand and cheek designs, as it was a disney themed event.

Then a few days later Jenny and I headed off to Farmer Phil's Festival, we weren't expecting to do brilliantly because of the bad weather, but we were nicely surprised when we took almost £200 a day! The great thing was that adults were getting involved too (some drunk, some not) so we got to have a go at more adult face painting.

Jen and I decided to paint each other as advertisement, it worked really well as people would come up to us and just say "I want what you've got on your face".

The two in the middle are brother and sister, and wanted a picture of them with face paint, to give their mum, to go next to the photo of them both face painted when they were little.

Very sweet spider man!

Young girl who wanted to be a "rainbow fairy"

Two absolutely adorable girls that turned up soaked to the bone - we had to dry their faces with tea towels before we could paint them!

Two teenage girls who wanted butterflies and flowers.

Scary Dracula

Farmer Phil himself!

Ludlow Castle

I worked in Ludlow Castle Wednesday and Thursday this week, Wednesday was pretty busy and Thursday was fairly quiet but still made a nice amount of money :) Got a pic of a batman face I did so that can go in the book!

My mum very kindly made some lovely green and spotty aprons for Jen and I, so will be post some pics of us wearing those soon! Next week is a busy one, Jenny is working at Ludlow and i'm working at Dudmaston Hall monday & wednesday, and then Ludlow castle on thursday. Exciting! We've also got a bit of a plan progressing about working in Ludlow square, but will post about that when it's confirmed.

This is the set up of the table at the moment, I think I might need a table cloth though so that the stuff underneath is hidden.

I'll post some pics from the next few days as they happen, things are growing fast!

Boards and Books

Been a busy day today, I headed into Ludlow to find a board to display while i'm painting, and bought an album to put current pics in. Took about two hours to paint the edges of the boardand cut out lots of pics and do drawing for the writing and so on, but i think it looks pretty good! I decided to paint the edging green as the aprons mum is curently making are green too - might become the company colour! I also stuck the photos into the photo album (although not before I realised that i hadn't bought the right size album for the photos :-S (I did do photography a-level I swear). Then I sat and did some writing in it whilst watching Tom row :-)
The Board, still need to add some more bits and pieces.

Front of the photo album for kids to look through and decide what design they want.

One of the inside pages

The "About Me" section :)

Off to work the first shift at Ludlow castle tomorrow - very excited, will be there every wednesday and thursday throughout the summer!

Rainbows & Eagles

Did a bit more practuce paintin
g today (after cycling 15 miles :-/) Design below is from http://www.facepaintingtips.com/blog/ I love this one, I get quite a lot of people asking for names on their arms, but always struggled to make it look interesting - heres the solution!

I needed to learn some bird faces for the Ludlow Castle jobs, so had a go at an eagle type thing today. Quite pleased with how it turned out, looks quite like a painting rather than the usual face painting style :)

Rainbows

I found my rainbow cake today, which I had lost before ever getting a chance to use so thought i'd have a bit of a play!

I tried doing it with a brush first, to see whether it'd be any good for things like flowers and butterflies, but that didn't really work so then i swapped to a sponge and just ran it over my arm. I used Diamond FX black to go over it, using two of my new brushes. I realised that face painting brushes and water colour brushes are pretty much the same except that face painting ones are about 3 times more expensive. So i bought some water colour ones and they're great!

This rainbow cake is going to make doing rainbow princesses about ten times faster :)

Practice

I decided to do a Ragdoll design i'd seen on DeviantArt, so credit goes to them for the desi
gn.
Heres how it looked:

I realised after that i'd
missed out some thread lines between the two blues.. ah well

The new black paint is great, doesn't clump at all stains a bit though.. so probably won't use it much for practicing.

Also had a go at doing some motifs that need thin line work:

My camera's dying so the pics don't really do them justice.

Got a stall at the Bridgnorth food, arts and music festival at the end of August, and then at the Bridgnorth family fun day on the 4th, exciting!

*update*
I've done a bit of photo editing for the ragdoll image, thought I might put it up on the website: www.doodlefacedesigns.co.uk
